Eastern quoll rewilding

Beyond Sydney, we have teamed up with the Invasive Species Council and Scots College to study the reintroduction of eastern quolls (Dasyurus viverrinus) into a 70 ha fenced area. We released 15 eastern quolls, sourced from Aussie Ark and Sydney Zoo in January 2025. Our little quoll population is doing well, with 6 juveniles born in 2025!

Eastern quolls are a native carnivore that used to be present throughout south-east Australia, but are now only in the wild in Tasmania. Re-establishing this charismatic critter on mainland Australia will take us one step closer to restoring our depleted ecosystems.

Our goal is to learn more about these amazing animals to help with the development of management practices that will support future reintroductions into the wild. Stay tuned for more updates on our growing population.
