Welcome to Sydney Rewilding Initiative!

Our first blog post is live! Learn about our new website and some of the exciting research we’ve been conducting…

We are a group of academics and industry professionals in the conservation biology space, aiming to increase biodiversity in Sydney’s urban reserves through the Urban Rewilding project.

In Feburary 2026 we will be translocating the bogul (Dharug), a native bush rat, to areas of northern Sydney. To learn more about this project, head to the Bogul translocation page.

To find out what we do, head to the current research and media and publications pages, or follow us on Instagram at @sydneyrewilding to see what we get up to in the field.

Periodically, we will update this website with news from our projects, but for more information contact mwauchope@sydney.edu.au or thomas.newsome@sydney.edu.au.
